Indonesia was chosen as guest country at the Coffee Expo Seoul exhibition which will take place on 6-9 April 2017 at the Convention and Exhibition Center (COEX) Seoul, South Korea.

owned various coffee-producing regions in Indonesia.

Predikat prestisius ini bakal menempatkan kopi Indonesia sebagai produk kopi terbaik dunia, mendapat tempat terhormat dan strategis, serta layak mendapat peliputan utama media-media di Korsel. Sekretaris Direktorat Jenderal Pengembangan Ekspor Nasional (Ditjen PEN) Kementerian Perdagangan Ari Satria mengatakan tak mudah mendapatkan predikat guest country di pameran ini.

Negara penghasil kopi harus bisa menunjukkan kualitas terbaik kopi produksinya. "Saya berharap produk kopi ini mampu memperbaiki neraca perdagangan RI-Korsel yang masih defisit. Sebab, potensi ekspor kopi ke Korsel sangat besar," ujar Ari Satria.

Setelah dinobatkan sebagai guest country, Ari Satria mendorong para eksportir kopi berlomba memanfaatkan peluang besar ini. “Terpilihnya Indonesia sebagai guest country harus dimanfaatkan maksimal, terutama dalam hal promosi beragam varian produk kopi Indonesia. Kopi Indonesia sangat potensial diterima di pasar Korsel, karena minum kopi sudah menjadi gaya hidup masyarakat Korsel,” ujar Ari.

Ari mengungkapkan, tahun 2017 akan menjadi tahun ke-3 partisipasi Indonesia dalam Coffee Expo Seoul. Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Busan akan bekerja keras berpromosi di pameran kopi internasional terbesar di Korsel ini. Rencananya Paviliun Indonesia akan dibangun di area seluas 126 m2 dengan desain spesial yang menggambarkan keberagaman specialty coffee yang
dimiliki berbagai daerah penghasil kopi di Indonesia.

Sebagai produsen kopi ke-4 di dunia setelah Brasil, Vietnam, dan Kolombia, Indonesia harus terus melakukan promosi ke penjuru dunia. “Walaupun kopi Indonesia mempunyai harga yang relatif lebih tinggi dibandingkan harga kopi Brasil dan Vietnam, kopi Indonesia tetap lebih unggul karena dikenal memiliki cita rasa dan keunikan khas yang tidak dimiliki kopi Brasil dan Vietnam," ujar Ari.

Pada Coffee Expo Seoul, ditampilkan pula acara pendukung berupa roasting dan grinding kopi oleh barista terkenal dari dalam dan luar negeri. Kegiatan inilah yang juga menarik antusiasme publik untuk mengunjungi Coffee Expo Seoul.

Ari mengungkapkan bahwa pada Coffee Expo Seoul 2016 perolehan Indonesia cukup menggembirakan. Indonesia yang diwakili 7 perusahaan, yaitu PT. Samtama Artanami, CV. Sukses Group, CV. Alpha Gemilang, PT. Leaf Power, Kopi Kamu, CV. Ulubelu, dan PT. Nedcoffee memperoleh potensi transaksi sebesar USD 3 juta. Pada Coffee Expo Seoul 2016 yang diselenggarakan 14-17 April 2016 itu, ITPC Busan membuat konstruksi khusus untuk Paviliun Indonesia bertemakan “Indonesia Home of Finest Coffee”.

Saat itu, Paviliun Indonesia tampil dengan konsep one island menghadirkan tujuh pilar yang mencerminkan tujuh daerah utama produsen kopi di Indonesia, yaitu Aceh, Medan, Jawa, Bali, Flores, Toraja, dan Papua. Untuk menarik perhatian pengunjung ke Paviliun Indonesia, setiap harinya juga diputar film dokumenter “Aroma of Heaven” yang menceritakan keberagaman dan kekhasan kopi yang tersebar di berbagai daerah di Indonesia.
